Chew Man Fu is a nice puzzle platform game that not too many will be familiar with, but it promises lots of fun!
Review
STORY / GAMEPLAY Chew Man Fu (obviously an anagram of the Fu Man Chew name) is an evil lord that set a curse to steal the world of fried rice, egg rolls and all his other, personal favorite, foods. To stop Chew Man Fu you must work through 550 rounds (wow!), clearing each by placing four differently colored balls into the related hole (box actually). All levels are swarmed by enemies who can be killed by firing of one of the available balls. When a ball hits them, it will continue moving at the same direction intervening walls and pushing the player slightly backwards. Blocks can also be moved at a more casual speed, including round corners. Once a block is placed onto its place, the game grants the player with a brief bonus Kick-Ball game for two players, that can help you practice with the "odd" controls. Chew Man Fu is an addictive puzzle platform game and among the best for the PC Engine gaming console!
GRAPHICS / SOUND The game's graphics are pretty nice, featuring a cool palette of colors and lots of large sprites on screen! The action is fun and intense ( especially when on the more advanced levels). Sound-wise, Chew Man Fu offers a nicely done (and funny) in-game tune and an array of basic, sampled sound effects. Overall, this puzzle game is very entertaining and, believe me, you gonna like it a lot!
